Municipality of Tinos is a local self govenrment level responsible for the administration, social, financial, cultural and development matters of its citizens. Tinos is a Greek island situated in the Aegean Sea. It is located in the Cyclades archipelago. Cyclades are island complexes belonging in the South Aegean Prefecture and located in the southeastern region of Greece and the European Union. The population of the Municipality of Tinos according to 2011 population statistics is 8.636 inh.
The municipality is governed by municipal council and economical committee, led by the Mayor who is appointed via popular vote held every four years. Main activities and responsibilities of the Municipality of Tinos include: security and police, water supply, water and wastewater treatment, waste management, fire fighting, civil protection, nurseries and kindergartens, repair and maintenance of schools, education, hospitals and health departments, entrainment provisions and leisure facilities, commerce and tourism etc.
Relation with HYDROUSA
Municipality of Tinos is the responsible authority for water supply, water and wastewater treatment in Tinos island. Thus, its involvement with HYDROUSA project will indisputably significantly contribute to the successful implementation.
