Short Bio Organization
Tinos Eco Lodge (ELT) is providing an eco-friendly tourist destination on the island of Tinos. ELT utilizes the surrounding natural resources in a comprehensive sustainable approach. This means using renewable energy resources such as sun and wind, building with local materials, collecting and reclaiming water, cultivating the land and producing local products, minimizing and recycling waste and promoting activities connected to our natural environment.
Our ongoing mission is to achieve a self-sustaining infrastructure to the greatest possible extent. We are actively involved in all stages: from the initial design and research of the different environmental technologies, to the implementation. ELT has implemented a state of the art rainwater harvesting system with excessive storage capabilities. By utilizing different water sources and qualities for the appropriate consumer the overall fresh water consumption of the infrastructure is greatly reduced. ELT has designed,
constructed and is operating a sanitation system that involves manure composting, waste water treatment through reed bed filtration and a reclaimed water cistern for irrigation of ornamental garden plants.
We promote sustainable design and management of natural resources through our tourism business, we cultivate our land organically and organize annual seminars on permaculture and we have an internet platform which features articles on these subjects as well as practical information on our experience and implementation troubleshooting.
Relation with HYDROUSA
In the frame of HYDROUSA, AERIS will oversee the design and construction of an advanced UASB anaerobic digester which will be implemented in the WWTP of Antissa (Lesbos). This system will remove most of the organic pollution of the wastewater while producing biogas, a nutrient-rich liquid effluent and only small amounts of sludge that can be further subjected to composting.
