HYDRO 5 Works on Tinos island are going according to plan!
Part of the excavation works at demo site have been started.
The trench for tree-root growth prevention has been prepared as necessary (2)
The guides indicating the extend of the Greenhouse have been remarked (3)
The working team has removed tree roots to prevent them from growing into the Greenhouse soil and exhaust water and nutrients.
The Polypropylene (PP) plastic foil arrived and we proceeded to place this barrier in the trench (4)
Then that Lego® toy mini-excavator they have there started filling in the ditch and securing the plastic barrier (5)
HYDROUSA team in Tinos managed to run a “real size machine” and thus complete the Greenhouse excavation and the leveling for the Mangrove Still area from Planet.
The truckload of fresh compost arrived to the island. This is one of the main soil amendments to be used in the mix (6)
Coming Next
The remain of the cultivation substrate components are expected to arrive soon. Then the soil substrate mixing process will begin so that it can fill and level the excavated area. Current works are followed by discussion on the next steps.
The construction of the Greenhouse will start within the month starting with the fundaments first and later with the upper structure.
The primary objective is to secure the water supply for the plants and proceed to the installation of the drip irrigation system.
After that, towards the End of March, all selected plants will be available and the actual planting will take place.
Keep an eye out for the next steps!
