Short Bio Organization
SEMIDE is a strategic tool for exchanging information on the water sector among the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership countries. It is an institutional network of Ministries in charge of water management. It focuses on assisting Mediterranean Countries to develop their own water data infrastructures and to allow more coherent and sustainable water planning. SEMIDE aims at collecting and facilitating the sharing of information and experiences, as well as the development of common tools and cooperation programmes. It provides water authorities with a means to exploit products and services in the Mediterranean region. Also, SEMIDE has been translating EU Water Framework Directive principles and European water innovation practices to the southern and Eastern Mediterranean countries, and it is contributing significantly to the Mediterranean Water Agenda and the Strategy for Water in the Western Mediterranean.
SEMIDE, in cooperation with 22 National Focal Points representing Mediterranean countries, is an effective communication service, using various means from multilingual websites, e-news flash (30 000 subscribers), social networks, multimedia support, physical products as well as events with stakeholders. Finally, the Technical Unit of SEMIDE has 3 major shareholders: the Directorate General for Water from Spain, the International Office for Water from France and SOGESID from Italy.
Relation with HYDROUSA
SEMIDE is the leader of WP8 Exploitation where it will identify and prepare business cases and will assess market potential of HYDROUSA products and services. It will also conduct the business plan and market deployment strategy together with ALCHEMIA which will cover the overall costs and savings of the HYDROUSA solutions. SEMIDE will also lead the marketing activities.
In addition, SEMIDE will analyse complementary funding mechanisms and contribute to other activities related to management (WP1), dissemination (WP9) and the transferability activities (WP7) to potential sites in the Mediterranean, Europe and MENA. Finally, SEMIDE will support different tasks in Evaluation (WP6).
